At the moment I’m building a new environment for SharePoint 2010 development. After a few hours of reading various blogs, talking to more experienced SharePoint developers and even talking to few SharePoint administrators. After a bit of thinking I went with Wictor Wilén’s multiple machine strategy. It seems like a reasonably easy strategy that looks a bit like the production environment I’m aim for.
So my environment will consist of the following virtual machines:
- AD Domain Controller / Windows Server 2008R2
- SQL Server 2008R2 / Windows Server 2008R2
- SharePoint 2010 / Windows Server 2008R2
- Legacy MySQL & PostgreSQL databases / Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
At the moment I have installed the domain controller and SQL Server.
